International Poverty Line 2025. This september 2023 global poverty update from the world bank incorporates updated cpi, national accounts and population data, and revises the previously published global and regional estimates from 1981 to 2021. The march 2025 update to the poverty and inequality platform (pip) involves several changes to the data underlying the global poverty estimates.
To measure poverty globally, however, we need to apply a poverty line that is consistent across countries. This means that anyone living on less than $2.15 a day is considered to be living in extreme poverty.
